The general lack in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense kind of questionable, in one way or another.
In past times, the area was a spot where lots of South Africans would go to to disappear from the especially restrictive regulations on games of chance (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Hence, you are likely to bargain on a picture of a flourishing sector to accommodate that tourist trade.
Still, maybe it isn’t really a discovery. The country is undeniably the most deficient over the world, having gone through a horrible civil war (followed by shattering floods) from which it is still, very slowly, pulling through. This tends to make a region much less of a tourist place, though there is now a thriving setting along a few of the region’s stunning beaches.
It is in addition valid that regionally at least, Mozambique’s casinos have had to cross with others in the recently liberalized South Africa, which comprises of the well-known Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.
Here’s a list of Mozambique’s casinos:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy-eight slot machines as well as video poker games, five tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, in addition one poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are 40 slot machines, American roulette, as well as 2 tables for poker as well as punto banco.
It is thought that over time the entire tourism business in Mozambique will grow dramatically. While the local languages are, clearly, African, there is as well the portion of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and developing introduction of English, both from South Africa and as part of the global phenomenon. The country is distinctly cheap (naturally, as it is really poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches across the globe, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the combination of things that make tourism management drool, and as the country ascends out of its present slump, it is likely that not only will tourism expand, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer too.
While the country is not expected to ever regain its distinction as a place for partying South Africans, as there are now other options closer to home for them to indulge in, the growth of a long distance tourism industry is being planned. This would be to serve Europeans seeking winter sun, as a break from the distress of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Plus, to top it off, the greatest prawns (shrimp) over the world come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
