Cambodia Casinos

There is a fascinating background to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just across the border from next door Thailand, in which casino wagering is not allowed. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small space in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the casinos ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are for all intents and purposes needed to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of chemin de fer, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are 150 slots and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 slot machine games and 70 table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and ninety six gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machine games and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machines and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-around resort and hotel compound that contains many comforts accompanying the gambling hall, which provides ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and 88 gaming tables.
