There are many gambling halls located in the commonwealth, the biggest number being on docked riverboats. The grandest of the Iowa gambling dens is the Meswaki Bingo Casino Hotel, a Native American casino in Tama, with 127,669 sq.ft. of casino space, 1,500 slots, 30 table games, such as twenty-one, craps, roulette, and baccarat, and several styles of poker; also three eatery’s, bimonthly entertainment, and betting instructions. An additional big Indian casino is the Winna Vegas, with 45,000 square feet, 668 slots, and fourteen table games. Additionally, the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Council Bluffs is open 24 hours, with 38,500 sq.ft., 1,589 slots, 36 table games, and 4 eatery’s. There are many other dominant Iowa casinos, including Harrah’s Council Bluffs, with 28,250 square feet, 1,212 slot machines, and 39 table games.
A smaller Iowa casino is the Diamond Jo, a water based casino in Dubuque, with 17,813 square feet, 776 slots, and 19 table games. The Catfish Bend river boat, in Fort Madison, with 13,000 square feet, 535 one armed bandits, and 14 table games. An additional Iowa riverboat gambling hall, The Isle of Capri, is open 24 hours, with 24,939 square feet, 1,100 slot machines, and 24 table games. The Mississippi Belle II, a 10,577 sq.ft. water based casino in Clinton, has 506 slot machines, 14 table games, live shows, and Thursday chemin de fer tournaments.
Iowa casinos present an excellent amount of tax revenue to the state of Iowa, which has allowed the budgeting of a good many state wide activities. Visitors have grown at an accelerated rate along with the request for companies and a growth in jobs. Iowa gambling halls have been helpful to the advancement of the economy, and the enthusiasm for wagering in Iowa is widespread.
